My Top 5 Tips for Looking Smokin’ Hot for your Boudoir Shoot
You want to do a boudoir shoot but all you can think about is that “You need to get in shape first before you can do one!” I get it, girl! We’ve all been there, and that’s why I want to give you some tips on how you can look smokin’ hot for your session!
I know you are ready to read on with this post and get the magic tips that are gonna lead you to that perfect body so you can look like a model for your session. But let me tell you…there is no magic diet. Or a magic workout routine. Or beauty regimen that will make you look as perfect as a cover model. So that’s not what you are going to find in the tips below. But with having a bachelors degree in Exercise Science (go BGSU!) and a passion for all things that can help to make you feel happier and healthier, I’m going to offer up some tidbits of advice. These are far from a panacea, but I hope that you find these 5 tips helpful and give you that extra boost of confidence to click “BOOK!” for your boudoir session!
1. Find a healthy lifestyle, NOT a diet that works for you!
Girl, repeat after me, “I want to find a healthy lifestyle so I can be happy + confident in my own skin! A diet will set me up to fail!” There are a lot of diet plans out there these days, and I’m sure you will see people reaping success from them! But remember – we tend to see highlight reels in peoples’ diet stories so who’s to say they will be able to stick with it for life! And we are all SO UNIQUE with what our body needs. Some can’t handle gluten. Others can’t handle all the grease from a Keto Diet. My recommendation is to meet with your physician, a nutritionist, or a dietitian and chat with them. Have your blood work done and find where you can make improvements to feel more energized + healthy!
Also, don’t jump on some bandwagon trend of a diet that is full of extreme “eat only this” and “do not eat this” lists! Learn to find balance…because who out there can REALLY eat perfectly according to a meal plan 24/7, 365 days a year? Not I, and likely not you! Know you will have holidays + work parties coming up and learn to accommodate – plan ahead so you don’t fall in a downward spiral of bad habits. Once you realize there’s not a one-size-fits-all diet out there and that it’s more about figuring out a lifestyle that fits with your daily needs and provides you with some nutritional balance, you’ll have an energy and a glow that will make you look “10 pounds lighter” for those sexy photos!
2. Work out to make your body stronger, not to make the “bad parts disappear”!
I tell you this speaking from my own personal experience. I would run because I knew I could burn more calories than walking in a shorter period of time. I would do strength training because I wanted my legs to slim down or my belly to go away. Can you relate?? Haha. Switch your mindset up! Do those crunches because you want a strong core that will help you with lifting your baby up. Go for a run because it offers you mental clarity as you jog along and you can feel your heart and cardiovascular health getting stronger.
Find the activities that you love to do, appreciate how your mind + body will benefit from them, and do them often. When working out becomes less about the negative and more about doing the things you love more, you will reap greater gains and you will feel amazing at your shoot!
3. Find the right outfits!
If you can find the outfits that are flattering to your features, it will TOTALLY make your shoot and also give you that boost of confidence needed to feel like a sexy vixen! I will also chat with you before your session to learn more about what aspects you love about yourself and what your partner loves about you, and I will also ask what your insecurities are. I will take your answers into consideration when we chat about outfits! I will also send you a prep guide with some recommendations to help you out! When you feel good in what you are wearing, it will shine through in your images and you will be looking like a smoke show! 😉
4. Find a good photographer!
They say a camera will add 10-pounds to you, but truthfully, it’s a terrible photographer that will do that! So find a good one! Be sure that you are looking at the portfolio and social media images for the photographers you are looking into. Do the women in the photos look comfortable and confident? Is the style of imagery fit in line with what you are looking for? Do the women look beautiful yet also natural? Ie, not fake – photoshopped? Making sure that you find a photographer that knows what she is doing, aligns with the style/imagery you are after, and that you connect with. If you find all of these things in your boudoir photographer, the resulting images are going to blow your mind!
5. Find your “cheerleader” and get motivated!
Sometimes all it takes is a good friend rooting you on and reminding you how amazing you are to feel like you are on top of the world! Do you have a bestie that you can try on some outfit ideas for so you can pick your favorites? Is your partner always reminding you what beautiful curves you have?
