“Long story short, I was in a car accident two years ago and it’s changed my life. I had 3 major surgeries and 5 procedures. It left me with 7 scars, and I went from the marathon runner to me.”
This was the beautiful tale that I learned from the divine Miss M when I asked her the “why” behind booking her boudoir session. She told me that this photo shoot was a gift of self-acceptance. She also said that her husband finds her scars to be oddly attractive. He attributes them to the strength and courage she went through to be where she is today. So while many may want to hide these war badges that Miss M had on her back, neck, and clavicle, she wanted to proudly show them off. And I think that is a very telling tale. Our scars are evidence that we have overcome all of our obstacles and we are healing over time. Our scares are not flaws. They unique to us. Whether they are physical or mental, they are part of our stories, experiences, trials, and tribulations. No one has lived the life you have. So let us embrace them and show the world what we are made off…beautiful, both inside and out! Below are a few of my favorite images from Miss M’s session. Including the ones with the scars…oh what a glorious story they tell!
