Hi, I'm tami

You’ve been wanting to do a boudoir shoot for quite a while now, and you’ve finally got up the nerves and booked one! Woot, woot! But now what? How on earth do you prepare for a sexy shoot?

You can already feel your palms sweating with nerves! But I PROMISE you that there is nothing to be nervous about! And if you are a Tami Keehn Photography babe and want to do a boudoir shoot in the Tampa Bay area…I got you! My clients will get a detailed questionnaire from me along with a personalized session prep guide.

But here are my top 5 tips to help you get started with preparing for your boudoir session!

1. Create a Pinterest vision board.

I know some photographers hate Pinterest boards, but I honestly love them. They help me to get a better visual of what is inspiring you for your shoot. Keep in mind though, your board is NOT meant to show pins you want to duplicate, but to show me the overall visual style that inspires you. Do you love the soft romantic vibe in an image? Or do you love the dark and moody tones? Do you notice you’re pinning lots of images that are more playful in nature than super sexy? Do you love the style of an outfit in one photo? Do you think the hair and makeup in a photo are on par to what you are looking for with your session? Don’t go overboard with it, just pin the images that truly get you excited. This will help me to make sure I am on the same page as you for your session.

2. Tell me what features you love about yourself…

…and also what areas make you feel a little self-conscious. This is one of the things that will help me MOST! If I know you love your curvaceous booty, then I am going to help you find the outfits that are most flattering to showcase that peach of yours, and we’ll make sure we are pulling our eyes towards your assets (see what I did there…lol) and away from the areas that you maybe aren’t as confident about. This also helps to provide me with direction on how we want you posing and how we will utilize the light best for your photos.

3. Don’t freak out about not knowing how to pose!

I’ll let you in on a secret…99% of the women I photograph are just everyday women like you and me and are NOT models. Trust me, I will be there every step of the way guiding you, giving you direction and actions that will result in beautiful images. And most times, I will also be leading by example myself with demonstrations! But just be open and willing to go with the flow as I direct you. When you breathe that sigh of relief and just have fun with it, those are when we get those killer shots!

4. There’s no such thing as too many options.

My theory is it’s always better to bring extra outfits and accessories than to not have brought it. Sometimes when we can brainstorm together in person, we can create the most amazing and flattering outfit to photograph that you may not have thought about on your own! Plus, when you have options, it allows us to compare them in person and decide which is the most flattering to your assets (ie, the right cut/shape/size).

5. Prepare to have fun!

While, yes, this can be a very vulnerable experience, it is also an utterly empowering one and 100% of my clients leave with a sense of accomplishment. So if you can go in with the intention to have fun, I promise it will result in beautiful images of a happy woman!

I love that you mention what we love about ourselves. For me I go into a session with ‘I don’t like …..’ but you’re so talented and I know will bring out the stuff I love more! Great way to shift my mindset !
