I was recently talking with one of my clients about how often I have women wanting to do a boudoir session as a gift for her future husband, but a lot of times it’s just the excuse needed to finally do a session for yourself.
This was the case when the lovely Miss A inquired with me about doing a boudoir shoot as a gift for her fiancé. When I asked her to tell me more about what doing a boudoir session means to her and all the reasons behind her doing one, her response was:
“Like a lot of women, I’ve struggled with loving the way I look. I’ve had a good number of health issues and have recently been getting everything under control. I’ve been able to feel good and start to love the way I look. My fiancé is the first person I’ve met that isn’t shy to tell me he loves the way I look too. I know looks aren’t everything, but it’s a really amazing feeling to feel good. And its even better when you have someone who makes you feel beautiful. I was initially doing this as a wedding present to him, but I’m also really excited to do it and have these photos of myself.”
And let me fill you in on a little secret…this reasoning for doing a boudoir shoot with me happens quite a bit! So while I love how much of a fucking amazing fiancé you are to your man for giving him a helluva gift, I also think you are pretty fucking cool for wanting to do this for yourself. This doesn’t make you selfish. Quite the opposite. When you can learn to love yourself and the skin you are in, the better you are able to love on and serve those around you.
