As an artist, Paris – the city of love – has been on my bucket list forever. So when I got to photograph a ballerina bride amongst its streets this past spring, it was a dream come true!
I’ve learned from my international travels over the last few years, that my creativity and imagination is always heightened – triple-fold – when I get to experience life and culture in these different parts of the world. I like wandering through the streets of a new town to discover its stories. I love getting to imagine what life might be like if I lived here, as well as what it would be like to photograph my clients in all these wondrous new nooks and crannies (well, new to me!). So whenever I get an opportunity to photograph clients in a new region, I jump on it!
On this particular trip to Paris, I was welcomed with the opportunity to photograph a lovely ballerina that was studying ballet abroad there through a program with the University of South Florida. Once we started chatting and brainstorming the vision, I was so excited, I could hardly wait! I wanted to start the session at my Airbnb located within the 12th arrondissement area. We would begin with some boudoir imagery – making sure to incorporate the Haussman Style architecture I love (oh those beautiful Parisian windows/balconies!) We followed up that with some ballerina portraits within ahidden courtyard garden. Then spent the rest of the shoot near the Pont Alexandre III bridge, wandering the streets of Paris along the Seine River.
Having always found a lot of inspiration from the French Model – Caroline De Maigret with her minimal, rocker-chic Parisian style – I thought it was only appropriate to mirror on some of her styles. We complimented the beautiful, delicate tulle of the Wtoo bridal gown we were borrowing with a black leather moto jacket…I feel Caroline would be proud! The jacket was the perfect juxtaposition for bridal portraits. I thought it also made our bride fit in a little bit more while wandering the urban city streets. This was such a fun collaboration and I hope you enjoy some of my favorite images from that session!
