Hi, I'm tami

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the current state of the world, you’re not alone.

With major changes unfolding across the nation and an endless stream of information online,  it can feel like chaos is knocking at your door. But here’s the truth: you have the power to find calm and empowerment, even when the world around you feels uncertain. Let’s explore how.

Two women voicing being strong, resilient, and empowered

1. Acknowledge the Chaos, but Don’t Let It Define You

First, it’s okay to admit that the world feels overwhelming right now. Suppressing or ignoring these feelings doesn’t make them go away—it only compounds them. Take a moment to name your emotions: frustration, anxiety, sadness, or even anger. Acknowledging these emotions is the first step toward releasing their hold on you.

Next, remind yourself that you can’t control everything happening in the world, but you can control your response to it. Focus on what’s within your power: your thoughts, actions, and how you show up in your daily life.

2. Create Micro-Moments of Joy

In chaotic times, joy often feels like a luxury—but it’s actually a necessity. You don’t need grand gestures to feel grounded; small, intentional acts of joy (often called glimmers) can make a huge difference. Here are a few ideas:

– Take a 10-minute walk in nature and let yourself breathe deeply.

– Start your morning with your favorite song and dance like no one’s watching.

– Make a ritual out of something simple, like savoring your coffee or tea.

– Have a stimulating conversation with a friend.

– Enjoy a kind interaction with a stranger

These micro-moments help anchor you in the present, creating pockets of peace that can transform your day.

3. Reframe Challenges as Opportunities for Growth

When the world feels out of control, it’s easy to slip into a scarcity mindset—thinking there’s nothing you can do to change things. But what if you flipped that narrative? What if these challenges were opportunities to strengthen your resilience and become the best version of yourself?

Ask yourself:

– What can I learn from this situation?

– How can I use this time to align more closely with my values?

– What small steps can I take toward creating positive change in my life or community?

This reframe helps shift your focus from overwhelm to empowerment.

4. Take Inspired Action

Staying grounded isn’t just about mindset—it’s about action, too. Even the smallest steps forward can remind you of your power to create change. Consider:

– Setting boundaries around your media consumption. Choose specific times to check the news rather than staying glued to it all day.

– Getting involved in a cause that matters to you, whether it’s volunteering, donating, or simply starting conversations in your community.

– Committing to personal goals, like learning a new skill or making time for creative hobbies. These actions can build momentum and help you feel more in control.

5. Build Resilience Through Self-Compassion

The world might feel heavy, but you don’t have to carry it all. Give yourself permission to rest, reset, and recharge when needed. Self-compassion isn’t about ignoring responsibility; it’s about recognizing your limits and treating yourself with kindness.

If you catch yourself slipping into self-criticism (e.g., “I should be doing more” or “Why am I so overwhelmed?”), pause and reframe the thought. Instead, tell yourself:

– “I’m doing the best I can with what I have.”

– “It’s okay to take care of myself right now.”

The kinder you are to yourself, the stronger you’ll feel when facing challenges.

6. Be a Positive Influence in Your Sphere

Finally, remember that your energy influences those around you. By staying calm and grounded, you inspire others to do the same. Small acts of kindness—a supportive text, a listening ear, or a heartfelt compliment—can create ripples of positivity in your community.

You don’t have to solve the world’s problems to make a difference. Simply showing up as your best self can have a profound impact.

Final Thoughts:

The world may feel chaotic, but that doesn’t mean you have to. By focusing on what you can control, creating moments of joy, and treating yourself with compassion, you can find calm and empowerment even in uncertain times. You are stronger than you think, and your ability to navigate these challenges will only make you more resilient.
